Their First Obstacle Course Race

This year I was at the Spartacus Dash to video the Ninja Physio teams. For half of them, it was their first time doing an obstacle course race (OCR).

Some had recovered from injuries and would otherwise not be doing it (or would be pushing through pain). For others, it was about facing their fears of heights, falling, or doing something new and challenging.

I enjoyed seeing them work through their fears and support each other, all while having a good time.

If you’re in Central Texas and would like to do an OCR for the first time, but don’t want to jump right into a Spartan or Tough Mudder, the Spartacus Dash is a good place to start. It’s a shorter drive, there’s paved parking, it’s a 2.5 mile run, it costs less, and they support a local non-profit.

Yet there’s mud and water and some challenging obstacles like the rope climb and rope wall. There’s also tall obstacles to put your fear of heights to the test. It takes place near the end of May every year.

So check them out! As my medals holder says: Never limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.
